5th Annual Sunset Seaside Stroll for

World Mental Health Day

12th October 2024 saw our traditional Sunset Seafront Stroll led by the awesome Ambling Band

starting at Clevedon Pier and sauntering along the seafront with the setting sun and stunning uplifting music for company- finishing by Marine Lake.

It is an important reminder for the importance of community- reaching out, checking-in, saying hi- you never know the importance that connection makes to someone else on any day

There were some great conversations and connections made- and some fabulous music as always!

Portishead TalkingPoint Bench

The 4th TalkingPoint bench was installed at Portishead Lake Grounds for World Mental Health Day thanks to James from Ark Plastics.

For more information on the TalkingPoint project check out the TalkingPoint Page

Bristol's first TalkingPoint bench is following soon! Through the work of Hope Against Suicide and Bristol City Council the 5th TalkingPoint bench is being launched on 17th October

We Are Aware
We are a not-for-profit Community Interest Company based in North Somerset
We raise awareness for mental health, suicide prevention and wellbeing through staging events, innovations and building partnerships with other organisations
We also support over 100 individuals with long term mental health conditions directly through groups and activities

What We Are Aware Do....

We listen to those we support and provide them with the groups and activities they want and need.

These are individual people, with their own paths. We are only here to support them on these paths.

We believe in the untapped wealth of knowledge and experience in the peer community- the power to support each other and realise none of us have to be alone.

We became aware as the pandemic began that services retreated to Zoom, and many were left feeling isolated, abandoned and "kept at arm's length" by services.

We have worked throughout lockdown and beyond to keep these individuals connected. We have worked within government and Covid guidelines to provide in-person support wherever and however we can, and develop a range of activities and groups to provide a sense of reliability, safety, connection and growth despite the lockdown.

There is so much more that can be done.

We want to do more, support more, and make more of a difference. This will always require more funding!

Building Partnerships

We enjoy working with other organisations. It is an opportunity to share skills; publicise each other's work; and demonstrate the value of connecting!
We like the opportunity to promote services that already exist and the good work they do

Involvement in the Community

We appreciate the importance of community involvement. Our events aim to be positive experiences to promote and provoke the conversations around mental health.
We want people to be involved. We want the community to be involved. It is the awareness to look out for each other which will help us all

Creative Innovations

We want to make our events positive. We hope to catch people's imagination and interest.
We want the mental health conversations to continue long after the event has ended.
We are also always looking for ideas with a legacy that will endure and continue to keep mental health talked about and supported
